Looks like it will be a while before Studio B is renovated in the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Centre.

Over the past couple years, $700,000 has been approved for the recreation centre's use, and High River Town Council was approached for an additional $50,000 during Monday's meeting.

Council chose not to provide capital funding this year, and Director of Community Services Lisa Reinders says they will keep trying in 2017.

"The scope of the project has changed over the last year, and then also the original estimates didn't factor in the whole cost of that space. It's really important to improve that programming space, and so then we'll take the project to mayor and council in the 2017 budget process."

She says they had high hopes for the renovations.

"Some of the hopes with the money that was provided within this capital request was to improve on the air circulation, and so air conditioning, and then also to create more space. So, taking out some walls, improving the floor."

Reinders says ventiallation is an issue in Studio B, but they will continue to use the space for the time being.

"We'll probably use that space this year for really small events that isn't the fitness. Because it is usable space and you know, it has a floor. But the intention was to improve the space and the air circulation so that it could be used for zumba or for aerobics or yoga."

Studio B is a small meeting space located between the two arenas in the recreation centre and has been used for birthday parties, yoga, and zumba classes in the past.

Reinders says they will bring the same request before council in the 2017 capital project list.
