The Town of High River and the MD of Foothills continue to go back and forth over the annexation of the new Red Tail Rise subdivision.

MD of Foothills Mayor Larry Spilak says it's a long, complicated process for both the MD and the Town.

"There is a lot that takes place, but you know we have competent staff and so does the Town of High River. The biggest part is really getting all the conditions in place for the development. And of course that's the developers responsibility. More so than ever, it'll be the developer that'll speed up or slow down the project."

Red Tail Rise is slated to be a replacement for the Beachwood community on High River's far southwest end.

Looking into Beachwood before the Town started working on the berm cutting off MacLeod Trail this summer. The neighbourhood is practically deserted and cut off from the rest of town.

The Province's DRP Program bought up the houses in there as they were left on the outside looking in of the Town's new berm system.

The once "high end" neighbourhood only has a few homes left.

The idea with Red Tail Rise is to build "high end" homes there as a way of replacing the one's lost in Beachwood, which adds significantly to the Town's coffers at tax time.

Once the details have been worked out between the Town and the MD, the Province will have to give their approval with the project likely moving forward quickly after that.
