The River City Classics Car Club is more than just the September Show and Shine.

That was on on full display Monday night as the club handed out donation cheques to 18 deserving community organizations.

The President of the club, Jeff Langford says despite the challenging economy they were able to donate the same amount as last year.

There was one ever present theme to the acceptance speeches and that was the tough economy from the various school lunch programs to the Rowan House Emergency Shelter.

Funds also went to the Keep Our OR Active campaign of the High River and District Health Care Foundation, the Handibus Society, Children's Wish Foundation and the Museum of the Highwood.

Other groups that received funding are: the Rotary Club of High River, High River Lions Club, the High River United Church, Salvation Army, Rt. Hon. Joe Clark School, Spitzee School, Holy Spirit Academy, Narrow Road Home, 1st High River Scouts, Call of the West Museum, Foothills Country Hospice and Foothills Minor Hockey Association.

Langford added, as of Monday, the lease for the Eamon's garage has been signed and they can move ahead with restorations.
