The River City Classics Car Club has changed their name after some trouble acquiring their Alberta Gaming and Liquor License.

Now named the River City Classics Eamons Garage Historical Society or R.C.C.E.H.S. the Society was pushed towards changing their name after getting some pushback from acquiring their AGLC.

Peter Hampton with the R.C.C.E.H.S. says they were trying to get their license to get into raffles and do everything properly and got some pushback from their name, more specifically the “Car Club” aspect.

Hampton says they had some back and forth between the club members on the name and landed on River City Classics Eamons Garage Historical Society.

The Society says Eamons Garage has been a large part of their history and present and they want to make sure they are properly represented.

The newly renamed society is looking to celebrate the front line workers and the community by showing off the backbone of their club.

Hampton says the society will be having a classic car parade through High River Thursday, May 7 starting at 6:30 p.m., going through town driving by High River’s major landmarks.

“With all the negative news in our community, it was our hope to show some positive news coming from our area.”

The parade will be driving by the Seasons Retirement Community, Sobeys, Medicine Tree Manor, High River Hospital, Co-op Groceries, Abbeyfield House, the High River Fire Hall and Andrew and Jessica's No Frills.
