The former PC Riding Association President for the Highwood Riding glad handed with supporters at the Sirocco Golf Club just south of the city limits Thursday, August 16.

R.J. Sigurdson,is running to replace sitting MLA Wayne Anderson as the UCP MLA for the Highwood Riding.

"We had a lot of good questions, I think there's a great engagement that's happening right now and I think this nomination is really important for Highwood. I think people see that, and I appreciate everyone that came out tonight," he said.

Sigurdson says there are issues that need to be addressed right away, including rural crime, and a solution for regional water supply.

"The rural crime issue is, of course, a hot one, we all know that with the recent events that have happened in this area. As well, coming up with a regional water solution needs to happen," he said.

He says as he makes his way around the riding talking to people, there's one issue more than others he's been hearing about.

"The number one thing I keep hearing is people are not happy with the carbon tax. The costs are too high. I look forward to being able to take that voice to government if I win the nomination," said Sigurdson.
