Believe it or not, the vast majority of repair work to the streets in Downtown High River is almost finished.

The big job still underway is along 1 Street West around the Royal Bank.

1 Street West is still in a shambles, but won't be for long as you should be able to start driving on it again as soon as next week.

The Town's Engineering Coordinator Jim Duckworth says it'll wrap up sooner than you might think.

"It should end this week, again weather depending. That's been a problem for them in that section. Once the underground's completed the surface will be restored. As that's being done right now, there are sidewalks being poured on the portion from 3 Avenue up to 4 Avenue South."

Traffic is down to just one lane at MacLeod Trail and Highwood Trail in McLaughlin Meadows.

Duckworth says there's a few other spots along MacLeod Trail in the West end of town making life tough for those trying to get in and out.

The first is at the corner of MacLeod and Highwood Trails.

He says they're doing some water work there, that has the road reduced to one lane, which he says will be in place for a few weeks, as they work to turn the end of MacLeod Trail into a cul-de-sac where they've filled in the berm blocking off what's left of Beachwood.

He says they're also doing some sewer replacement along 8 Street West between MacLeod Trail and 10 Avenue, which will add to the difficulties in getting out of the West end.

He says that work will be wrapped up in a few weeks as well.

MacLeod Trail at 7 Street West is blocked off by work being done on 8 Street West. It's the same story on 9 Avenue, with a detour set up on 10 Street West.

He says there's other spots in Town like 1 Street East and a few spots along the new roundabout near George Lane Park where there could be occasional delays thanks to sidewalk work.

He says overall the wet weather has set them back about a week, but he's hoping to have most of the major work all done by the end of September.

The final touches are being put on around George Lane Park and the new round-a-bout on MacLeod Trail and 6 Avenue West, with the road work being done, Farmboy has moved in to start landscaping.
