Local emergency services are coming together Thursday to help a pair of organizations.

The annual Charity Check Stop will be collecting non perishable food, toys, and money for the Okotoks Food Bank and Rowan House Women's Emergency Shelter.

Kye Kleckner, municipal enforcement officer, says it's great to have these positive interactions with the community.

"I think Christmas time is a time where everyone wants to come together and give to each other, especially to the less fortunate, and this is a way for our departmemt to be able to give back to the community."

He adds municipal enforcement has a strong relationship with the Okotoks Fire Department, MD of Foothills, and others in emergency services making it enjoyable for them all to come together.

Kleckner says he's hoping they'll top last year's totals.

"Last year's event went really well, it was one of our better years, we raised about $9,000 and six truck loads of food for the food bank so it was a big success."

The Charity Check Stop takes place Thursday from 2- 4 p.m. on Milligan Drive by the Okotoks Rec Centre.
