The Salvation Army is looking for community support in the 99.7 Sun Country annual Food Mountain, food drive tomorrow on July 19th 2018 at the Sobeys grocery store in High River.

99.7 Sun Country will be broadcasting live from Sobeys starting at 8am until 6pm and residents can drop of donations then.

Lieutenant Chad Cole with the Salvation Army says they are accepting both food and cash donations: "We appreciate contributions of food and cash. Cash donations are helpful, because we have teamed up with local food stores to get excellent buying value for our charity, we can really stretch the dollar and get as much food to families as possible."

Cole also details the types of food's that are best donated for a food drive, he says canned foods and non-perishable goods work the best for events "When we are at a public event for a few hours without cooling, it is very difficult to maintain the quality of fresh-prepared foods. Canned foods are easiest and safest to transport, but we truly appreciate all the contributions we receive."

Cole says tomorrows event will also be staffed by cadets outside of the province "We have some Cadets from Winnipeg in training who were sent on an assignment to Calgary, they have volunteered to give us a hand with the Food Mountain event."

According to Cole, last years Food Mountain was a great success, and he hopes to see that same communal support again this year.
