Staff, students and families at Notre Dame Collegiate School in High River are getting back to their routine.

The school put a 'Hold and Secure' procedure, also known as a lockdown, in place on Wednesday afternoon after administration became aware of threats that were made.

School Principal Paul Dunphy says a couple of students brought concerns forward to a staff member.

"A couple of students brought a concern forward to a staff member about comments that another student had made," said Dunphy. "That staff member brought it to administration and administration called RCMP and things went from there."

They put their protocol in place, which locks the exterior of the school and regulates the ins and outs on the building.

"It allows classes and movement to carry on more or less as normal in the school."

He adds the staff, students and families were great in how they handled things.

"Things went really smoothly. These are things that we practice and all schools practice now and part of it is making sure you use the right protocols in the right situations."

The staff was great in how calm they were in dealing with everything our students were awesome and our parents as well.

"In situations like this things get blown up in text messages and Facebook posts and things like that and you have parents naturally panicking and either phoning the school or coming to the school and it is hard for the RCMP to do their job and for us to do our job if we are dealing with that."

"We are thankful our parents had confidence in us and everyone was able to stay calm and focused and we were able get the investigation done and move on with the day."

RCMP made one arrest in relation to the incident.
