School is back in session on August 31 in the Christ the Redeemer School Division, with Holy Spirit Academy and Notre Dame Collegiate opening their doors.

This also means school zones for those schools are back in effect.

And in High River there is some confusion as to what times the speed zones are in effect.

The Town was hoping to have everything in place before the start of the school year to enforce their new harmonized playground - school zones bylaw, but the signs have not arrived yet.

Sgt. Brent Hawker says the RCMP are enforcing the times and days stated on the signs, so watch for when that changes.

"On the 17th of July the Mayor and Council for the Town of High River passed their new bylaw," said Hawker.

When the signs are in place the speed will be 30 km from 7:30 a.m. to one hour after sunset daily.

"We are not sure when to expect the signs so what will happen in the interim is the old prescribed times will remain in effect, they are written on each of the signs as you enter the school zone."
