The Foothills Search and Rescue team are one step closer to a new Mobile Command Centre after their fundraising dinner and auction Saturday, May 27.

The event, put on by the Okotoks Rotary Club, was held at the CP Regional Fieldhouse and included guest speaker, the "Original Man Tracker" Terry Grant.

Committee Chairmanm Chad Merchant, says the night was a big success.

"It was amazing, we had so many good people come out and support this cause, we had a wonderful dinner, a bunch of great sponsors, it was a fun night all around."

One of the highlights of the night for Merchant was a surprise presentation from Crescent Point.

"It was tough for me to keep in, they donated $30,000 tonight it's so amazing."

Merchant estimates the event raised between $40,000 and $50,000, adding they'll be working over the next few days to get the final numbers tallied.

He says the Foothills Search and Rescue is very grateful for the generosity, as it is a non-profit, volunteer run organization which depends on donations to operate.

"You guys are unbelievable, I thank you so much, I can't believe how gracious everybody was."
