High River's Sheppard Family Park Society wants to resurrect a Master Plan for the park.

Society President Mary Anne Dearing approached council Monday to request inclusion in the town's planning.

"The Society's been operating for almost the last 20 some years with a vision of having a park that provides a unique opportunity to learn about our history and we really just have felt over the years that we haven't had a lot of support in that direction," Dearing says. "We just don't want it to all fall apart and we want some direction from the Town because now we're surrounded. Before we were out there but now we're surrounded by the town."

She says a Master Plan was started back in 2012 but it eventually fell by the wayside when the Parks Planner at the time, moved on.

Vice-president John Lockhart says they need the help.

"We're a completely volunteer organization, we have to design all our efforts by ourselves and we have to find the people to do it," he says.

Council agreed to include the park society in budget discussions in the fall.
