The Special Needs Association for Parents and Siblings, or SNAPS, held what turned out to be a very successful "Show The Love, Heart" fundraising gala on the weekend.

Executive Director Orvella Small says considering what's going on with the economy they did very well.

"You're always uncertain when the economy is kind of fluctuating,  you're always uncertain of what your events are going be, and it was kind of the first event of the new year that we were putting forward so we were really, really pleased," Small says. "We have just got our total, we made just under $15,000 so we're really quite pleased with the way it turned out."

She says last year they raised about $12,000.

Money raised through the event is used to assist families with children with special needs through the group's various programs and supports.
