The Highwood Memorial Center is generously organizing a silent auction for Food for Thought as part of their upcoming Heartland Wine and Food Gala.

Suvi Tuulia Lorenz with Food for Thought says all proceeds from the silent auction will go to provide healthy lunches for children in local schools.

"The money raised will be going towards our Food for Thought organization and we are feeding the students of High River, Blackie, Cayley, and select schools in Okotoks, and we are making sure that these kids are not going hungry during the school day."

She says that they are eagerly looking for items for the silent auction.

"We are looking at any item that local businesses are willing to donate for the silent auction in order to raise some money for our food program. Basically anything, we are hoping for items that are worth around a hundred dollars."

Any items for the auction can be dropped off at the Memorial Center.

Lorenz also notes that they are looking for vendors to come showcase and sample their products at the event.

"So if you are a business that wants to sample their food items, if you are a restaurant or caterer or anything like that, it's probably a good idea to get a table and showcase your items."

Tickets are on sale now for $15 per person.  Tasting tickets will be fifty cents each.  For more information call Jenn or Troi at 403-652-4404.
