The Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton is getting a government grant to do some planning for the future.

The Province is providing $250 thousand to the Mosquito Creek Foundation to find out if they need a new building or a renovation.

A total of seven affordable and seniors housing providers across the province will share $1.4 million to explore their options for the future.

Silver Willow CAO Debroah Zaluski says the original building is 40 years old.

"The Province has supplied the money so that we can move forward and put a business case together that will then go to treasury so we can hopefully get money for a new build or renovations," said Zaluski.

Consultants will come to Nanton and help come up with a plan for what's needed.

81 residents call the Silver Willow Lodge home, including 53 in the older lodge part of the buildings.
