The High River United Church is looking for singers for a special concert.

It's called "Singing To End Hunger" and Reverend David Robertson says it's truly an open event for both the choir and the audience.

"We're inviting folks who like to sing from the wider community to come to one rehearsal on Thursday evening November 23rd at 7:30 at High River United Church, that's our meeting place, and the idea is to create an opportunity to sing for the Canadian Food Grains Bank as part of a wider common vision," Reverend Robertson says.

All funds raised at the concert, Sunday, November 26, will be matched by the federal government to support the Canadian Food Grains Bank.

He says they're looking for anyone who likes to sing or wants to be part of a choir who may not have had that experience, and who wants to sing easily accessible songs for all ages.

"I've been having a little bit of fun with that saying it's for love, not necessarily for perfection, because we're only going to do one rehearsal and that's to make it as accessible as possible for people," he says. "The whole idea is to have fun, enjoy our time together and then present it to the community."

He says a part of the effort is to provide a wider vision of hunger around the globe and the Canadian Food Grains Bank has been a key player in helping to address problems of world hunger for many years and is respected around the world.

Reverend Robertson says he's also glad they can bring some attention to Canadian Food Grains Bank projects in the High River area.

He's aware the concert is set for Grey Cup Sunday but he's confident the timing will work out just right and people watching the game can head over to the church for the seven o'clock start of the concert.
