The Town of Turner Valley is one of a growing bunch of communities looking to drop the speed limit to 40kp/h in town limits.

Mayor Kelly Tuck says, a couple of small setbacks meant they had to push back it's implementation to this year.

"Actually the speed was supposed to be reduce in September, but when we started to talk over the overall plan. Planning went through it and it only made sense that when we're touching on different areas, we're also going to change signage for all our parks. So they're all consistent and all our signs are consistent."

Tuck says some may say they're following the lead of Okotoks, which changed to the new lower limits in the fall, but she's quick to point out they actually started working on the issue a full year before that.

Tuck says they should be down to the 40kp/h speed limit by the end of March.
