Brenda Smethurst is a long time Turner Valley resident who says she can make a difference on Turner Valley Council.

She's one of six people running for the job in next months byelection.

She says she's both concerned and interested in the Town's future.

"I've been in Turner Valley since 1975 and I raised my family and just last June I retired. So I think I now have the time and energy to put into running for Council."

Smethurst says water is definitely an issue, but the Town needs to concentrate on making sure they have enough for now, before worrying about development.

"As you know, we're in a drought. So, I don't see new developments being a positive with the water. I believe in change. But I also believe we should improve on what we have."

Smethurst and the other candidates will debate the issues Monday, March 11, in the first of two forums.

It goes at the Valley Neighbours Club, starting at 7 o'clock.
