Mother Nature's being unkind to High River kids Thursday, August 23.

All this smoke has forced the Town and the High River Parent Link Centre to cancel their Annual Outdoor Children's Carnival scheduled for Thursday.

But all is not lost, as the Centre will instead host a free public swim from 1-to-3 o'clock at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

And staff will be on hand with surprises for those taking part.

The Town is encouraging everyone to follow the advice of Environment Canada, which is warning children, seniors and those with breathing difficulties to stay inside or go somewhere with air conditioning to beat the heat, and reduce the amount of smoke they're breathing in.
