Visitors to Champion Park were transported through time on Saturday, August 5.

Southland Transportation provided buses that brought visitors to Champion Park.

The 52 acre park was open to the public for one day only this year, and visitors are raving.

Children played old time games, while touring the varying train cars, cabooses and historical train stations and gorgeous scenery.

Interpreters were there, dressed in 1920's era costumes to lead visitors through the park, educating the public on the history and uses for all of the antiques.

Janette Messer, Community Programs and Events Manager for the Town of Okotoks says it will be a while until the park opens to the public again.

"Ultimately there will be a non-profit society that will be put in place to kind of manage the operation," she explains. "There will be a lot of research that needs to be done to really create an identity for the park moving forward and at this point in time no decisions have been made, we're just quite excited to have been able to let the community come and have a little look."

All in all, it was a sell out event as seats on the buses filled quickly.

Safe to say, the public was thrilled to receive the sneak peak.

The park was gifted to the Town and the M.D. of Foothills in December by the Knowlton Family.
