High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass is pretty happy to see the numbers of cases of COVID-19 in the High River region dropping off as fast as they have.

The number of active cases has fallen to 16 from well over 500, just a few weeks ago.

Snodgrass says residents need to pat themselves on the back for a job well done in reducing the spread.

"The residents for sure have a primary role in this. But just how well our health care professionals have set us up for success and given us the right guidance and making sure we know what we need to be doing. For the most part everybody's been abiding by the rules, which is exactly why we're seeing the success we are now, down to 16 (active) cases."

Snodgrass says staff at the High River Hospital have done a great job as well, limiting the spread in the hospital's palliative care unit, with just one active case remaining.
