The Okotoks Public Library is offering another way for residents to get active outdoors.

On top of their walking pole rentals, they now have snow shoe rentals.

Lara Grunow, assistant librarian at the Okotoks Public Library, says they have six sets available to those with good standing accounts.

"There's no holds available for them so you do have to come in, it's first come, first served, your library account needs to be in good standing, that means you have no overdue fines or any charges associated with damaged books, as long as you have a clean account you can come and check out the snow shoes."

Grunow's reminding residents the library does still offer their walking pole rentals over the winter.

"They actually do have a rubber booty on the end of them you can slip off and it actually has a spike like a ski pole, or the poles the snow shoes come with, that you can use to walk in the wintertime if you're in the snow."

Snow shoes can be signed out for up to a week.
