A live demonstration of changing a babies diaper.

A race between Blackie and High River hockey players to see who can dress the fastest.

What do those two things have in common?

They were acts that received a lot of applause during past performances at the High River Spring Ball Talent Showcase.

And Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 is your chance to see this years version.

"The reason why we do the talent show is to mostly give the kids experience getting up in front of a crowd and help with their public speaking," said Etiquette Coach Carmen Sewell.

A big part of the program is to build their confidence and give them experiences that do that.

"We call it a talent show but it really is a participant showcase."

The students often think they don't have a talent, like singing and dancing and musical talent, that's the more typical thing

"We have a really good time working with the participants to try to discover things that they are interested in or things that they are into."

It gives them a chance to showcase what they know a lot about, whether it is sports or other interests.

"They end up putting together really neat presentations on a variety of different of different topics and interests," said Sewell.

Guests can expect to see some singing, dancing, cooking demonstrations and perhaps even some magic.

"It's lots of fun and its a great way for the participants to get out there and showcase themselves and what they are into and get them that experience performing in front of a crowd."

Tickets are available at the door,

"We encourage members of the community  to come out and check it out. It's a great way to see some of our young adults."
