One of the biggest complaints about the Calgary Stampede is just how expensive it can be.

With the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" set to start Thursday the  Better business bureau has come out with some great tips on how you can enjoy the Stampede on a budget.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator with the BBB, Leah Brownridge says there's all kinds of freebies and discounts you can take advantage of.

"You want to make sure that you're taking advantage of those value days. Checking out which days offer discounted admissions. Sometimes kids or seniors will get in for free. And also take a look at free Stampede breakfasts. And also discounts on rides and other offers that will be offered through your local grocery stores."

Check out deals ahead of time:

Local grocery stores like Safeway and Sobeys offer deals on ride coupons and wristbands. Certain retailers carry specially marked Coca-Cola products that contain admission vouchers too. Select Mac's stores also have deals on admission. Be sure to check all terms and conditions before purchasing.

Value Days: Certain days during the Stampede have discounts on admission and sometimes feature free activities.

Sneak-A-Peek (July 7): Discounted admission between 5 p.m. and midnight.
Suncor Family Day (July 10): Free admission between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and a free Stampede breakfast for the first 20,000 guests.
Western Heritage Day (July 12): Free admission all day for people 65 and older, free WestJet Skyrides all day and rodeo deals.
BMO Kids Day (July 13): Free admission for kids 12 and under from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
