Livingstone-MacLeod MLA Pat Stier, like most of us, is watching the race for the Provincial PC Party Leadership with some interest.

Federal Conservative MP Jason Kenney will run for the party leadership under the banner of uniting the PC's and the Wildrose before the next provincial election in 2019.

Stier however isn't convinced that it's going to happen, or that it needs to.

"We're going to be standing back as we've said since last fall. We're interested to have a big conservative tent here in Alberta. We think we need to have a bigger conservative party. We believe it should be under the Wildrose. And we're forging ahead, our numbers are up, we're doing really well. And despite what's going on with the PC's and their leadership review and Mr. Kenney, we're forging ahead and going to keep on with what we think is important to Albertans."

Stier says endorsements of Kenney's leadership bid, and support for a merger of the two parties by former Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Interim Federal Conservative Leader Rona Ambrose don't carry much weight with him.
