Joining locals at the BMO Farm Family Awards Monday, July 9, was Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier.

Stier, says he grew up with farming and the western lifestyle and is more than happy to celebrate it whenever he can.

"Farming is part of my heritage and part of my families heritage so it's very important to be here with these people and to celebrate a way of life, and it is a way of life that everyone is proud of, so it's great to see them getting awarded for it today."

Stier says it's a pleasure to see so many familiar faces as he represents a lot of people who've received these awards over the years.

"There are several families here from the various towns and rural areas that I represent, from Fort Macleod all the way up to Millarville. I'm so proud to be here."

The event takes place each year at the Calgary Stampede.
