It was one year ago, March 28, 2015, that Brian Jean became the leader of the Wildrose Party.

It came at a time of turmoil, with nine members of the party, including leader, Danielle Smith jumping to the PC's and not many people thinking the Wildrose would survive, as they were down to five sitting MLA's

Livingstone-MacLeod MLA Pat Stier, who stuck with the Wildrose, resisting the urge to jump ship, says it's a decision he's glad he made, because of Jean's leadership.

"I was kind of elated because since the upheaval and betrayal situation that happened at Christmas time. We were getting re-organized, we we're named the official opposition. So, we were moving forward and we had this guy come along named Brian Jean who just turned out to be a fabulous guy. So we were extremely fortunate and very happy to have him join our team."

Jean led the Wildrose to their best showing ever, winning 21 seats in last May's Provincial election.

In that time he managed to pick up a seat in Calgary through a byelection, but just missed out on another last week in another Calgary riding.
