The Province adding over 100 new paramedics and dozens of new ambulances is great news, depending on where you live.

Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier says the NDP's announcement last week add's 10 ambulances and about 30 new paramedics in Calgary.

Stier says it could be a benefit to Foothills residents, but in a round-a-bout way.

"That had to do basically with a lack of proper coverage when Calgary would run out of ambulances, they'd call the rural ambulances into town. So, that may have a little bit of a positive effect to rural's. If Calgary doesn't have as many "code reds" perhaps they won't be trying to drag rural ambulances into town as much."

Stier says he's been fighting to restore local control over EMS and dispatch systems, along with patient transfers for close to 10 years with limited effect.
