The first delivery of Christmas Stockings for Seniors and Veterans is going out on Saturday, December 16th and support for the program continues to grow.

Organizers have had an outpouring of support with business chipping in money for Christmas stockings along with school and daycare's contributing home made cards.

Right now they have 524 seniors on their list with 120 of them due to get their treats this weekend.

"Businesses have all come together, strangers are approaching us," said Sue Mueller. "People we haven't seen in ages popping in or seeing us on the street, we have had a great, great, great month."

The children at Daydreams and Sunbeams made footprints into cards for the seniors.

"Schools, the daycares, you name it, we have kids dropping off boxes of cards with little letters inside of them."

And Christmas eve they have a special sleigh arriving to finish delivering the socks.

"Actually the AHS (Alberta Health Services) has stepped up and we are going to be filling up an ambulance and doing it all together."

Mueller has been working with Mindy Barstad and Mike Crawford and so far the donors have included:

High River Dental who dropped off bags of toothpaste and tooth brushes
Life Force Healing and Best Foot Forward dropped off his and her filled stockings
