Students at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir school will enjoy an extended weekend today, as the school has announced a full closure due to the extreme cold temperatures and poor road conditions.

It's going to be a little bit chilly for the next couple of days, in fact so cold, particularly Monday, February 4, that Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning with windchills into the -40's.

They say some warnings of cold related symptoms are a shortness of breath chest pain, muscle pain, and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Frostbite can develop in minutes on exposed skin, particularly with the wind chill.

And if it's too cold for you, it's too cold for your pet, so bring them in if you can.

This cold weather will be sticking with us for most of the week with overnight lows into the -20's every day through Saturday, February 9.
