High River's street sweepers have been out and about the last few days.

The Manager of Operational Services with the Town, Eugene Lund says for now they're just hitting the main roads, but about the middle of April they'll start on residential streets.

He says there will be signs put up indicating where they'll be.

"There has been some confusion with the signage that we've set up in the past as far as times and that type of thing so we're actually in the process of ordering some new signage which will be more clear for people," Lund says. "That's one of the reasons it's going to take a few more weeks here before we can start in the residential areas."

He urges drivers to be careful around the machines because the nature of the work takes them into area they wouldn't normally be in with the vehicle that huge and they can make a u-turn in the middle of the street if they have to come back and because of all the dust, he says don't assume they can see you.

Crews start to hit the roads about 4 a.m. to avoid tying up traffic.
