This weekend Okotoks mayor Bill Robertson and Eagle 100.9's Logan Coutts made the Sobeys rooftop their home.

The high altitude camp out was a fundraiser for the United way in Okotoks.

Dierdre Mullen with the Okotoks United Way says while there's no official total yet of what was raised she knows they've made it close to their $10,000 goal.

"I know that Sobeys graciously accepted to take donations at the till and I haven't received that figure yet," she says. "We were just over $9,000 yesterday, unofficially of course because I haven't actually sat down and counted it myself, but it's all good we're very, very close if not at our goal which is wonderful."

Mullen says the money will go towards supporting local groups.

"All the money that's raised in Okotoks does stay in fact only in Okotoks. We support local charities like Big Brothers Big Sisters and other organizations that have come forward to say they need funds or request funds from us. There's a fairly rigorous application that we have to go through and we discuss it with the board to figure out who gets what kind of money."

This year the Okotoks United Way received over $200,000 in requests for funding but could only give $100,000 as that was what they had for available funds.
