Drivers out and about in High River over the Summer should keep in mind that just because school's out for the year doesn't mean it's a free-for-all in school zones.

High River RCMP Staff Sergeant Robin Alexander says they remain in effect all year.

"We, like many other communities, the Town of High River has decided to harmonize the two, to ensure the safety of all the foot traffic in and around those areas throughout the year. Not just during school hours."

Alexander says it's something that's a priority enforcement issue for them year round.

He says fines for speeding over the posted 30 km/h limit can range into the hundreds of dollars.
