The Okotoks and District Chamber of Commerce is continuing to prove itself to be a great resource for local businesses.

Memberships with the chamber grew by about 17% last year and so far that increase has crossed over to the first quarter of 2017.

Cheryl Actemichuk, CEO of the Okotoks and District Chamber of Commerce, says the chamber stands out from others.

"As of right now we have 427 members so we are close to 35% of the licensed businesses in town which is really great when we look across Alberta at our partner chambers, we're actually pretty revered."

Actemichuk says there's a significant amount of benefits for chamber members.

"We can go to council and represent our membership if there are issues that are pending in town, we have the Chamber's Group Insurance Plan, our chamber members get member pricing to all our events, there's lots of educational opportunities, we have member to member discounts and benefits, our website, we have socials and all sorts of fun stuff. It's just a great way for people to network."

According to Actemichuk, statistics show that 67% of people will buy from someone who's a member of the chamber before they buy from anyone else.
