For the 22nd year in a row, Grade 9 students across the country had the opportunity to participate in Take Your Kid to Work Day.

The initiative serves as a chance for teens to do some career exploration and learn about skills needed in the work force.

Paige Asplund, student at Westmount School, got to spend the day shadowing Dr. Catherine Pampiglione at Canine Aquafitness and Rehab Centre in Okotoks.

Asplund started her day by assisting with a cold laser therapy treatment and says it was quite the learning experience.

"It's been very cool, I learned a lot about the spine because of the last laser treatment we had with Callie the dog."

Later in the day Asplund also took part in a canine aquafitness session.

She says the day helped to reaffirm she'd like to one day like to become a veterinarian.

"I was just starting to think 'maybe I don't want to be a vet' but now it's like 'oh, this could be really cool'."

About 250,000 students in Canada took part in Take Your Kid to Work Day.
