Taxpayers in Turner Valley will be paying a little bit less this year.

The average homeowner, or one with a home valued at $350,000 in Turner Valley will see their tax bill go down by $90.85 in 2018.

Mayor Gary Rowntree says it's thanks to a combination of finding efficiencies in their operating budget and rising property assessment values.

"The review council came to the conclusion there could be efficiencies found immediately within the operation, which we were able to do. With that, assessments did go up, by I believe the figure was around 5.7 per cent. As assessments go up, it allows the Mil Rates to come down and that's the effect that's actually happened."

The Education Tax Levy and the Westwind Foundation Levy are both up this year, but the Municipal Tax decrease of 4.2 per cent means an overall decrease of 2.4 per cent.
