Fire Chief Len Zebedee

Members of the High River Fire Department expect to be busy this week.

Not necessarily with emergency calls, but with education.

Fire Chief Len Zebedee says it's always pretty busy during Fire Prevention Week.

"We've got a number of tours planned with the schools and different cub groups so we'll be doing tours and going to different places to promote Fire Prevention Week," he says.

He says telling kids about checking smoke detectors is always good because they'll go home and make sure their parents check them out.

"They're our best resource to go to because the will go home and tell their mom and dad to check the alarm and have and escape plan and work with that to make sure everybody gets out of the house safe," Zebedee says.

Fire Prevention Week goes until Saturday, October 15.
