Tim Meech from Fort Macleod will carry the Alberta Party banner into the next election here in the Livingstone-Macleod riding.

Meech, originally from Okotoks, says the policies and the people in the Alberta Party are what attracted him to run for them.

"Their slogan is, as they say is "A Party For All of Us." It has a great team, the people that I've met since I've joined have been excellent. They're problem solvers. They don't start at the end with the ideology, they begin with what the problem is and then they work from there what possible solutions could be."

Meech, originally from Okotoks moved to Fort Macleod about a dozen years ago where he started a family.

He says the biggest reason he got into politics is because he's "honestly concerned about the future we're going to leave for our kids."

He says he's not comfortable with the current or past government's plans to saddle future generations with huge amounts of debt.

Meech says he'll knock on some doors around the riding over the next few weeks gathering feedback before heading to the Alberta Party Policy Convention in the Fall.
