The Town of High River is moving to keep people's pets out of Town owned facilities.

Patrick Webb says there are a number of reason behind the decision.

"From a town point of view we totally understand that there are people who enjoy having their pets with them at all time, but there are also other people that do not want animals around for various reasons," Webb says. "Now we considered all kinds of things, like allergies safety, potential dog bites and liability insurance but what we decided was that this was going to be a rule that gave everyone equal access to town facilities.

He says service dogs will still be allowed in Town buildings.

The decision involves the Town administration building downtown, the Operations Centre and the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.
