High River's Citizens On Patrol has been a big help to local RCMP.

Constable Stacy Campbell says they have about 30 members now but could always use more.

"We're always looking for members," she says. "Being summer, I think our patrols have gone down slightly but it is summer and people get out, and they're on holidays and whatnot, so we'll be making a push come September again, we always want more members."

COP members go out patrolling the town and if they see anything suspicious they call the RCMP to investigate.

"They've certainly helped us out on some files and seen some things that enabled up to respond quite quickly and get some work done," Constable John Rotheisler says.

They've also been known to knock on some doors when they find a garage door left open so the homeowner doesn't end up losing something.
