Bah Humbug!

Christmas spirit takes a plunge in the Town of Strathmore over the past week as a chain of vandalisms occured.

The latest act of destruction targeted Strathmore's Celebration of Lights event at the Strathmore Agricultural Society.

Corporal Jay Salmon of the Strathmore RCMP says that the residents are getting involved and the tips keep coming in.

"We're starting to see some tips come in, and some information come in. The community is quite upset by this and they want to see the people held responsible."

Strathmore has been experiencing an increase in vandalism over the past week, but Salmon says the RCMP are still unsure if they are connected.

"At this point we're unsure of who's responsible, we have lots of investigational leads that we need to follow up on yet."

This is the ninth annual Celebration of the Lights, and the Town is expecting around 4 thousand attendees this year.

Despite the approximate $6 thousand in damages, the organizers still say they will be up and running by the opening night on Nov. 26.

RCMP are asking for the public's help in their investigation,

"We're encouraging anyone that has any information at all to come forward and speak with us, so we can try to hold these people responsible for their actions." Salmon adds "They can contact us at the detachment 403-943-3535, or through Crimestoppers."
