The High River Farmers Market kicked off the season under cloudy skies and a little less room due to construction Thursday afternoon.

Among the vendors was Jim Charbonneau who is back for a second year with his wood-fired pizza oven.

"We stick with the traditional wood, it can be difficult at times but I know it enhances the flavor I like the color of the pizzas a lot more, they turn a real golden brown."

He says his oven is unique to the Farmers Market scene and can be found at the market every Thursday.

Vendor Emma Oldford says she's got what you're looking for when it comes to that last minute Fathers Day Gift.

"I am a calligraphy Artist and I started it in college as a way to combat anxiety. Now I'm doing custom commissions and right now the biggest project is Fathers Day cards and we can make it custom and throw your Dads name in and put his address on the envelope and everything, just make it extra special."

She says she's excited to be a part of the market this year.

Even though vendors are sharing a little space with construction vehicles Eric Lowe says it's the place to be every Thursday and there's something for everyone.

"Kettle corn is my specialty."

He says he was told that they'll get the remaining 25%  of fourth avenue back later next week so everyone will get a little more elbow room.

The High River Farmers Market is on Fourth Avenue S.W. and goes every Thursday from 4 to 7pm until September 29.
