Willow Rose Hatchard is the 2016 Labour Day baby born at the High River Hospital.

Proud father Cayley, and mother Jodie, welcomed their daughter into the world on September 5 at 11:37 a.m. weighing in at 7.2 pounds. Dad Cayley says all the attention has been different.

"It's pretty neat, we're all very excited," he says. "It's our first child right now."

It's become a tradition for the last ten years for the Hospital Auxiliary to present families with a quilt whenever a baby is born on Labour Day.

Jodie is from the Southwest of England originally but says she fell in love with this area while traveling through the foothills years ago so she obtained a work permit and never left.

She's looking forward to having two or three more children down the road, just not right away.

The family live on a farm just north of Turner Valley.
