Plans are still in the works for new schools for both the Foothills and Christ the Redeemer School Divisions in the planned Spitzee Crossing area of High River.

Planning director with FSD Monica Kohlhammer says they held meetings about a shared school site with the landowners in the spring of this year.

"The Area Structure Plan had the school properties, that were designated, on two separate areas, just a little bit further from one another and we have proposed for some reconsideration of that," Kohlhammer says. "We really believe, both ourselves, Foothills School Division and Christ the Redeemer, in our discussions, that there could be some real synergies, in particular with the recreation centre, to Spitzee Crossing."

While the school buildings would be separate, they would share the same play fields.

There's no time line since the sub-divisions are not ready to be built yet.

Kohlhammer says they've been very fortunate to be at the table early in the process with the developers who are building communities throughout the towns and MD.
