Sheppard Family Park will be buzzing with activity Saturday Sept 10 as the annual Threshing Bee gets underway.

Dave King with the Park says it's a great chance for you to see how harvesting used to happen and how it's done now.

"We're in the corner of the field with a team and threshing machine and then we also have a brand new combine and swather which is how it's done nowadays."

The annual event since 2001 also includes a petting zoo, a honey bee display, a blacksmith demonstration, entertainment and the always popular 'Cook Car in the Field'.

King says it's absolutely delicious and "there's homemade pies and cookies and ice cream.  You can go and buy lunch but you'll probably spend more money over there eating pie."

It's not just about the sweets as there's also a 'Wheat to Buns' display which shows how wheat gets to your dinner table.

"We pull wheat in from the field right off the threshing machine. We have one of our volunteers grind it right there and she also has buns there for sampling."

The event runs from 8am until 4pm with a pancake breakfast to kickstart the day right at 8.
