It was a fun filled day at the Sheppard Family Park as the Threshing Bee gave everyone something to talk about.

The one day event took all year to plan, grow and organize.  From a petting zoo to a blacksmith demonstration it was much more than a threshing bee.

Dave King with the Park says it was another fun and educational event.

"We were better than last year, so that was good.  We appreciated that and appreciated all the support from the community to come check it out.  We feel like it was a success.  I heard an approximate number of 400 people."

King also says he's grateful for all the volunteers that helped put it together including the folks that whipped together the homemade ice cream, cookies and pie.

"Well there was 24 pies to start with and I think they only went home with two so I'd say that's pretty good.  And that helps raise money for the Park as well and everybody who had some sure had good things to say about it."

The harvest also went very well and King hopes he'll be able to take the wheat to market.

"Depends on the grade.  I still have to have it checked out at a local elevator but in the past we've sold it either to a local feedlot as feed wheat.  Last year our feed made #1 so I hauled it out to the Blackie elevator and sold approximately 60 bushels."

The event ran from 8am until 4pm and they're looking forward to next season.
