Sheppard Family Park in High River will be a buzz of activity on Sat. Sept. 12 for its annual threshing-bee event.

'Farm boss' David King, says they've already cut the crop and bundled it, and now everything is ready to go for the weekend.

"Normally the threshing machine would be running as the crews would go out and pick up those bundles on racks and bring them to the machine, but because we want to pick the perfect day to have our thrashing, we pick them up ahead of time and make sure we have them dry for the day."The day kicks off with a black-smith presentation and pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. and the first round of threshing will begin at 11 a.m.

There will be live music throughout the day, as well as beef on a bun and homemade pies and cookies.

Admission is just $5 per person, or $15 for the entire family.

King says he's also looking for volunteers to help with the event.

"We're setting up for our day on Friday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.," he says. "Anybody who's interested in even coming and seeing what we're all about as a volunteer, wanting to help or participate, show up on Friday and we'll get you orientated."
