Alberta lost another 24,000 jobs in the month of May.

Foothills MP John Barlow says a lot of that is because of the lack of investor confidence because of federal government delays in making decisions about major projects.

"Alberta's unemployment rate is at 7.9 per cent, the highest it's been since the National Energy Program in the 1980's," Barlow says. "Just saying 'We feel for Albertans' isn't what we need, what we need is them to stand up, show some confidence in our regulatory regime, show some leadership, make decisions on these critical infrastructure programs, like the Trans Mountain pipeline and the Pacific LNG, say we support these initiatives, we support the National Emergy Board, the regulators and the work they've done."

Barlow  says if the government does that investment in these projects will return and so will the jobs.

He says the government doesn't see the human costs of its delays.
