Contrary to popular opinion it's OK to still drive with your winter tires on.

Assistant Manager Dean White says it won't hurt to wait a little until the rush to have them removed slows down.

"I don't remove the tires from the company truck until May. My wife keeps asking when we're going to take the winter tires off her vehicle and I tell her we're going to wait until May because you never know when you can get a little snow storm come through Southern Alberta."

He says there's no need to worry about excessive wear since the composition of tires today are far superior to what they were in the past.

White says he waits a little longer than most to remove his and for good reason.

"As you know, living in Southern Alberta typically we see snow right up until almost the end of May. A lot of people are choosing to take them of right away. Today has been the busiest phone traffic day for people looking for appointments to get their winter tires off."

He says there's many that live in the area that never take them off.

"A lot of people here that live in the foothills area keep their winter tires on all year long, just because they could actually see snow during any point in the year."

He says that most people usually put their winter tires on when temperatures reach seven degrees and take them off when the temperature hits double digits.
