Black Diamond is hoping to add a little bit more colour to the downtown core.

Council is hoping that the main street buildings will soon see businesses stepping to liven up the place.

Mayor Sharlene Brown says it's been something council has been working on for sometime.

"We started early off in the summer where we wanted to be able to take a look at revitalizing, sprucing up our downtown and giving people options for painting their businesses and what we need to do."

Brown says any business in town that wants a new coat of paint whether they own or rent the building they're in can now talk to the town about giving their business that shiny new piece of armour.

"We just urge people that are interested to give a business refresh then go in and have a conversation with our planning and development officer and we'd love to share the information with everybody."

Council and the Mayor believe in having a diverse display of colour would go a long way for businesses in Black Diamond.

"Just to ensure that we have a viable downtown, that looks good, that showcases our town is the most important piece.
